Jammu: A Full Court Reference was held in the Court Room of the Chief Justice at the Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to bid farewell to Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, on demitting office upon attaining the age of superannuation.
The Full Court Reference was held in accordance with the traditions of the High Court, attended by Chief Justice Arun Palli and various Justices, along with former judges, civil administration officials, and members of the legal community. The event recognized Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul’s contributions upon his retirement, highlighting his dedication to the rule of law and access to justice for marginalized groups. Monika Kohli, Senior Additional Advocate General, praised Justice Koul for his judicial prudence and fairness, while Nirmal Kotwal, President of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, commended his commitment to constitutional values. The Chief Justice emphasized that retirement signifies a transition rather than an end, acknowledging Justice Koul’s contributions and the sacrifices made by judges and their families. In his farewell remarks, Justice Koul expressed gratitude to his colleagues and the legal community, underscoring the importance of cooperation between the Bench and the Bar for effective justice. The proceedings were conducted by M. K. Sharma, Registrar General, ensuring a dignified atmosphere. Justice Koul was honored with a Guard of Honor, reflecting the respect for his distinguished judicial service.
