DC B’gam holds Preparatory Meeting for R’Day Celebrations 2026

Dr Bilal directs timely execution, inter-departmental coordination,                              high standards for the celebration

Budgam: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Tuesday chaired a preparatory meeting regarding the forthcoming Republic Day Celebrations 2026 at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Budgam.
The meeting of district officers and representatives of various security agencies was convened to review preparedness and finalize arrangements for the smooth and dignified conduct of the celebrations across the district.
The Chair was apprised that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium, Budgam, while similar celebrations will also be organised at Sub-Division, Tehsil, Block and Panchayat levels. Contingents of JKP, CRPF, NCC and students of various Government schools will participate in the march-past parade. Besides, cultural programmes and a felicitation ceremony will also form part of the celebrations.
On the occasion, various committees including Hospitality Committee, Stage Management Committee and Selection Committee were constituted to ensure seamless conduct of the event.
The DC directed all concerned departments including Education, Jal Shakti, R&B, DYSSO, Information, Health, Sports, Traffic, Motor Vehicles, Police, Floriculture, PDD, Municipality and Paramilitary Forces to discharge their assigned responsibilities with utmost coordination and professionalism.
The meeting discussed in detail arrangements related to venue decoration, seating, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, barricading, medical aid camps, availability of ambulances, fire tenders, transportation facilities, parking, refreshments, invitations, public address system, brochures, cleanliness and sanitation. Special emphasis was laid on march-past rehearsals, cultural performances, refreshments, transportation, mobile toilets and changing room facilities for participating students.
Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed that all arrangements must be completed well in advance and maintained at the highest standards befitting the national importance of the occasion.
He impressed upon the officers to ensure effective inter-departmental coordination, punctuality and zero-lapse execution, while also directing them to maintain cleanliness, discipline and decorum at all venues.
Security agencies were instructed to put in place fool-proof security arrangements at all venues where Republic Day functions will be held across the district.
The DC also directed the Heads of Departments to install departmental stalls/banners at the venue to showcase their flagship programmes and achievements for public awareness.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, ASP Budgam, GM DIC, CEO Yousmarg Development Authority, SDMs, CMO, CEO, District Officers, DySP DAR, representatives of security agencies, and other concerned officers and officials.
