Jammu: An Awareness Workshop on Design, Fashion, and Management Education was on Tuesday held for students at Cluster University of Jammu, organized by the Office of the Dean, Students Welfare, in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar. Syed Azahar, Joint Director of NIFT Srinagar, served as the main resource person for the event.
The workshop attracted participation from students across various disciplines, including Home Science, BBA, Commerce, and Social Sciences. Its primary objective was to raise awareness about the diverse career opportunities available in design, fashion technology, management, and other creative fields offered by NIFT. Resource persons from NIFT engaged with students, sharing insights on academic programs, admission processes, career prospects, and emerging trends within the fashion and design industry. The importance of making informed career choices was emphasized, along with NIFT’s status as a leading institute under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. A notable highlight of the workshop was the discussion on the 35% reservation quota for domiciled students of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, which aims to encourage local students to pursue professional education in fashion and related fields. The workshop received positive feedback from students, who valued the informative sessions and interactive discussions. This initiative marked a significant step in guiding students toward creative and professional career pathways.
