Kulgam: A joint meeting of the ASHA Unit (Awareness, Support, Help and Action) and the DAWN Unit (Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation for a Drug-Free India) of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam was held Tuesday at the ADR Centre, Kulgam.
The meeting was convened to deliberate upon and strengthen coordination between various Government Departments and DLSA Kulgam in the effective implementation of ASHA and DAWN initiatives under the aegis of NALSA.
The meeting was chaied by Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, District Legal Services Authority) Kulgam.
Members of the ASHA and DAWN Units, including Additional District Judge, Rafia Hassan Khaki and Additional District Magistrate, Viqar Ahmed Giri attended the meeting.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various components of the ASHA and DAWN schemes, with special emphasis on inter-departmental coordination.
It was unanimously decided to depute Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and Panel Lawyers, in coordination with Panchayat-level committees, to identified areas for conducting special awareness programmes. It was further resolved to undertake physical visits to the Addiction Treatment Facility, Palash, and Parisha (Child Care Institutions) to assess facilities and strengthen outreach.
Additionally, a 100-day awareness campaign on the prevention and protection against child marriage was formally launched.
Members of both units actively participated and offered valuable suggestions to enhance the outreach and effectiveness of the ASHA and DAWN programmes across the district.
