Srinagar: SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary held a joint security meeting to enhance the security, safety, and traffic management of the Navyug Tunnel. The meeting was attended by key stakeholders including Commanding Officer of the 163 Battalion CRPF, local police officials, and representatives from the National Highways Authority of India and Qazigund Expressway Private Limited.
The focus of the meeting was on the recent road accidents in and around the tunnel, with a particular emphasis on the dangers of over-speeding. Commuters were urged to adhere to the speed limit of 50 km/h to mitigate risks and protect lives. SSP Kulgam called for improved inter-agency coordination, continuous surveillance, strict access control, and effective emergency response strategies. The importance of following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), being prepared for contingencies, and maintaining clear communication among all involved parties was highlighted to ensure the ongoing safety and functionality of the Navyug Tunnel. All agencies were instructed to remain alert and collaborate closely for public safety.
