3-Day Advanced Mediation Course Held in Jammu,Srinagar

Jammu : Under the patronage of Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice Arun Palli, the Mediation and Conciliation Committee (MCC) of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh Saturday inaugurated three day training programme ‘Conduct of Mediation- Advanced Course (Capsule Course), Training of Trainers Programme’, simultaneously at Jammu and Srinagar campuses of J&K Judicial Academy (JKJA).
The advanced mediation training course, organized in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Academy and the J&K Legal Services Authority, is scheduled to be held from December 29 to 31, 2025. This 20-hour program aims to enhance the skills of mediators throughout the union territory. The inaugural session at the Jammu campus featured a welcome address by Director Naseer Ahmad Dar, who emphasized the critical role of advanced mediation training in improving the justice delivery system and equipping mediators for effective conflict resolution. At the Srinagar campus, Secretary Tabasum Qadir Parray highlighted the significance of mediation training in dispute resolution and encouraged participant engagement. The inaugural sessions at both campuses included notable resource persons, such as Rita Das Mouzumdar and Suman Sharma, all of whom are accredited Mediation Trainers with the Supreme Court of India’s Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee. The course curriculum commenced with structured theoretical and practical modules on advanced mediation concepts. The first day included sessions on understanding conflict and conflict resolution, the definition and components of mediation, and the conduct of mediation. These sessions incorporated role-play exercises and group discussions, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. Overall, the three-day course aims to deepen participants’ understanding of mediation processes, enhance their practical skills, and strengthen the capacity of trained mediators across the Union Territory. Participants expressed appreciation for the hands-on, simulation-based approach, noting that the structured role-plays provided practical clarity on integrating mediation tools into their work. The simultaneous execution of the program at both Jammu and Srinagar underscores the ongoing efforts of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh to promote mediation awareness and bolster alternative dispute resolution (ADR) capacity in the region.
