Srinagar :Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that During a routine naka checking at Haji Check crossing, a police team from Police Post Keegam apprehended a suspects identified as Shamim Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Poterwal Keegam. Upon searching him, officers recovered approximately 896 grams of a substance resembling charas. Following this incident, Shamim Ahmad Bhat was arrested, and a case under FIR No. 275/2025 was registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Shopian, with an investigation currently underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to combat drug peddling in the district and appealed people to assist it by reporting any information related to drug trafficking or other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
