Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has detained three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Shopian identified as Owais Ahmad Lone R/o Sedow Shopian, Mashooq Ahmad Shah R/o Shahlatoo Shopian, and Subzar Ahmad Gani R/o Check Choland Shopian.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that certain individuals, referred to as detenues, were repeatedly engaged in activities detrimental to the security of the State. Despite previous preventive measures and legal actions taken under Sections 170/126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), these individuals persisted in unlawful conduct, thereby threatening peace and security in the district. In light of their ongoing involvement in such activities, the District Magistrate Shopian issued detention orders after all necessary legal procedures were followed. The detenues were subsequently apprehended and placed in custody at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu. In its statement Police emphasized its commitment to maintain peace and security, asserting that they will continue to take decisive action against those who pose a threat to the State, strictly adhering to legal protocols.
