Srinagar : On the eve of National Good Governance Day, the University of Kashmir organised an awareness programme on the theme “Transparency, Accountability, Responsiveness and Inclusive Governance” with an aim to sensitise the university fraternity about the core principles that underpin effective and people-centric governance.
National Good Governance Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness about effective governance practices, honoring the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. His vision continues to inspire efforts towards transparent, accountable, and responsive public administration. During the observance, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Prof. Nilofer Khan, emphasized the institution’s commitment to good governance, highlighting accountability to students and society. She noted that the university’s governance framework is built on principles of responsiveness, integrity, and inclusiveness, and pointed out that institutional reforms significantly enhance outcomes. The keynote address by Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, a retired IAS officer and KU alumnus, underscored the importance of accessibility and responsiveness in governance. He stressed that effective communication and timely issue resolution are essential characteristics of good governance, which ultimately reflect the core values of public service. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal reiterated the university’s dedication to accountability, inclusiveness, and transparency, asserting that governance extends beyond mere compliance with regulations. He highlighted the responsibility of the university to uphold public trust in all decision-making processes.
