Budgam:  Deputy Commissioner(DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Friday conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing ski infrastructure projects at the scenic tourist destination of Doodhpathri.

The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress and ensuring the timely completion of key initiatives designed to promote winter and adventure sports in the region.

During the visit, the Ski Shop project, being executed at an allotted cost of ₹25.39 lakh, was meticulously reviewed by the DC.

The project is intended to provide essential amenities and skiing equipment to tourists and adventure enthusiasts visiting Doodhpathri. The Ski Drag Lift project, sanctioned at an allotted cost of ₹376.60 lakh, was also inspected.

On the occasion the DC said that the project, once completed, will significantly enhance skiing and other recreational facilities for visitors during the winter season.

The DC stressed on the importance of strict adherence to quality standards, approved specifications, and timelines during the inspection.

He emphasised that the facilities, once operational under the Doodhpathri Development Authority, are expected to greatly enrich the tourism experience and attract a larger number of visitors to the region.

The DC  observed that the development of modern ski infrastructure would not only promote Doodhpathri as a premier winter tourism destination but also generate livelihood opportunities for local youth and contribute to the strengthening of the local economy.

He directed executing agencies  to work with dedication, transparency, and accountability to ensure that the projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

The DC also directed that suitable land in the vicinity of these projects should be identified for the establishment of public conveniences and associated facilities to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Concerned executive Engineers accompanying the DC during the visit briefed him on the current status of works and assured that all efforts were being made to ensure the projects are completed as per approved plans.

The DC reiterated that the timely completion and operationalization of these ski infrastructure projects remain a priority of the District Administration, with the ultimate aim of providing modern recreational facilities, boosting tourism, and fostering socio-economic growth in Doodhpathri.

The DC was accompanied during the visit by CPO Budgam, SDM Khanshaib , Executive Engineers of concerned departments, and other senior officials of the district administration.
