Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Friday conducted an extensive inspection of key developmental projects at Khansahib, with special emphasis on strengthening healthcare, educational, and residential infrastructure in the area.
During the visit, the DC inspected the approved project for construction of additional accommodation at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Khansahib, sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹492.11 lakh. The project envisages construction of a new ground-floor hospital block with a built-up area of approximately 363.32 square metres (around 3,900 sq ft), proposed to be executed through the tendering process.
It was informed that the upcoming facility is planned as a 40-bedded hospital block, aimed at improving patient care services, decongesting the existing hospital infrastructure, and strengthening healthcare delivery at the Sub-District level. The new block will house both Out-Patient Department (OPD) and In-Patient Department (IPD) facilities, thereby significantly enhancing the functional capacity of SDH Khansahib.
The DC directed the executing agency to ensure strict adherence to approved specifications, quality parameters, and timelines. He further directed preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the renovation and upgradation of the existing hospital building, so that the healthcare infrastructure is modernized in a comprehensive and integrated manner.
Later, the DC inspected the Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Khansahib, where he reviewed its functioning and the availability of essential medicines at affordable rates. He emphasized ensuring uninterrupted availability of quality generic medicines for the benefit of the general public.

The DC reviewed both the financial and physical progress of the hostel project and stressed its early completion and operationalisation, so that the facility is made available for the intended beneficiaries at the earliest.
Subsequently, the DC visited Government Degree College Khansahib to review the progress of the ongoing construction of the College Auditorium. It was apprised that about 85 percent of the construction work has been completed, and the remaining works are at an advanced stage, expected to be completed within one month.
