New Delhi : The 31st meeting of the Executive Council (EC), highest statutory decision-making body of the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), was held here today with Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath in chair.
The meeting included prominent academic figures from various institutions, with Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir presenting the agenda. Prof. A. Ravinder Nath emphasized the University’s dedication to academic excellence and inclusive growth, highlighting its evolution into a vibrant learning center. The discussions focused on academic, administrative, financial, and developmental matters, reinforcing the University’s commitment to innovation and excellence. The Council reviewed the University’s progress and future plans, aiming to enhance its institutional framework and address contemporary societal challenges. It approved the establishment of new Schools and Departments, including the School of Multidisciplinary Studies and the School of Skill Studies, to promote holistic education and employability. Additionally, a new Department of Psychology was approved to meet the increasing demand for psychological studies. To strengthen its postgraduate offerings, the Executive Council introduced new programs such as the MBA (Executive), Master’s in Educational Technology, and Master’s in Educational Administration, targeting working professionals and aspiring leaders. The University is also pursuing land allotment for a City Office and Guest House near Srinagar Airport. A significant decision was the adoption of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), allowing the launch of Apprenticeship Embedded Undergraduate Programs. This initiative aims to enhance industry-academia linkages and provide students with practical training, thereby improving their employability and readiness for the workforce. The Council acknowledged the Vice Chancellor’s efforts in securing grants from the Ministry of Education for infrastructural development, which will enhance the University’s academic environment. Members expressed gratitude to the UGC and the Ministry of Education for their support and urged the UT administration to improve road connectivity for the Tulmulla campus, with the additional chief secretary assuring follow-up on this request.
