SWD Srinagar Holds sensitization Prog with SHGs under Beti Bachao Beti Padaho

Srinagar : Social Welfare Department (SQD), SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women- Mission Shakti Srinagar organized Sensitization Programme with the members of Self Help groups associated with NRLM at Government Degree college for Women Nawakadal under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
The programme focused on key issues such as prevention of gender-based discrimination, importance of girl child education, PC&PNDT Act, prohibition of child Marriage and legal provisions for the protection of women and children.
Participants were sensitized about the objectives of the BBBP scheme and the collective role of society in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for girls.
Resource Person, SANKALP-HEW Mission Shakti, Srinagar while addressing the gathering, emphasized that educating and empowering the girl child is fundamental to social and economic development. The speaker highlighted that changing mindsets at the grassroots level is essential for achieving the goals of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
Later, Spokespersons from the Government Degree college, spoke about the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the rights of girls and ensuring equal opportunities for them. The speakers also highlighted various government initiatives and legal safeguards available for the welfare, education, and safety of women and children.
The programme witnessed active participation from Self Help Group members from NRLM. Informative sessions, interactive discussions, and awareness talks were conducted to reinforce the message of “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.”
The event concluded with a pledge by participants to support gender equality and work collectively towards the empowerment and well-being of girls in society.
Such sensitization programmes will continue to be organized under the BBBP scheme to strengthen community engagement and promote positive social change.
