Minister attends JP World School Annual Day celebrations

Jammu : Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, ARI and Training, Satish Sharma, Wednesday exhorted upon the students to imbibe a stronger scientific temper while remaining deeply rooted in the unique cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister was speaking at the Annual Day celebrations of JP World School, marking 20 years of excellence and togetherness.
The Minister lauded the institution for its consistent contribution towards shaping the enlightened, disciplined and socially responsible citizens. He said that education must not only impart academic knowledge but also nurture curiosity, innovation, ethical values and respect for diversity, which are vital for building a progressive and inclusive society.
Satish Sharma highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is fast emerging as a hub of innovation and technological growth, particularly in the fields of Information Technology, Science and Technology. He informed the gathering that the government has undertaken several initiatives to promote the digital governance, scientific research, start-ups and youth-led innovation, creating new opportunities for the young generation.
“Wednesday’s students will be the architects of tomorrow’s Jammu and Kashmir. They must combine scientific thinking with cultural sensitivity to drive sustainable and inclusive development,” the Minister remarked, while encouraging the students to explore careers in technology, research, sports and entrepreneurship.
The Minister also appreciated the school management and faculty for promoting a holistic model of education that balances academics, sports, creativity and character building. He said that institutions like JP World School are playing a pivotal role in preparing the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to compete at the national and global level.
Earlier, the celebrations commenced with the inauguration of the school’s new anthem, marking the institution’s two-decade journey of excellence.
Chairperson Dr. Panna Manhas Choudhary and Principal Aparna Kohli highlighted the school’s growth, achievements and commitment to value-based education.
The cultural programme, based on the theme “Rekindling the Yuletide Spirit,” captivated the audience through vibrant performances that conveyed messages of compassion, unity, empathy and social responsibility.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of national and international sportspersons, alumni and brand ambassadors, including a special virtual interaction with Seerat Baji, IAS, a distinguished alumnus who secured AIR 516 in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023.
