Srinagar : Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi on Wednesday chaired a security review meeting at the Police Control Room, Kashmir, to assess preparedness for the peaceful celebration of upcoming events. The meeting was attended by all Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs) from the Kashmir Zone, along with senior officials from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and various district Superintendents of Police (SSPs).
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range was briefed on security arrangements and deployment strategies from the attending officers. V.K. Birdi, the IGP, emphasized the necessity for all preparations to be finalized ahead of time. He instructed officers to enhance security measures at checkpoints, particularly during nighttime, and to maintain heightened vigilance at locations deemed vulnerable throughout the Valley. The IGP highlighted the importance of being alert to potential threats to peace and security, advocating for increased area domination within their respective jurisdictions. With an anticipated increase in tourist activity due to the upcoming New Year celebrations, the IGP called for a multi-layered security approach at key tourist sites, including cable car terminals, forest trails, crowded areas, and major access routes. He stressed the need for coordinated patrolling, real-time intelligence sharing, and ongoing surveillance to ensure safety. In light of the weather forecast, V.K. Birdi directed that personnel and equipment be kept operationally ready to address any weather-related challenges while ensuring continuous security and public assistance. The meeting also included a review of security measures for highways, railway tracks, and stations across the Valley. The meeting ended with a unified commitment to enhanced vigilance, improved coordination, and the effective implementation of security protocols to guarantee the peaceful and orderly conduct of all planned events.
