Baramulla, December 24: Security forces on Wednesday successfully busted a militant hideout during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
The hideout was detected in an open field at Shali Buth, Wagila, Kreeri during a joint operation carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kreeri, Police Station Kreeri, 52 Rashtriya Rifles, and the 2nd Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
During the search operation, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including four Chinese-made grenades, 19 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) rounds, and 46 rounds of AK rifle ammunition.
Officials said the recovered arms and ammunition were destroyed on the spot in accordance with standard operating procedures to prevent any potential threat to public safety.
Police stated that the recovery has dealt a significant blow to militant activities in the area. Further investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the recovered material and its intended use.
