CSR Honey Entrepreneurial Training Programme concludes at Ramban

Ramban: The 7-day CSR Honey Entrepreneurial Training Programme on Scientific Beekeeping concluded Tuesday at Ramban with the distribution of certificates and bee boxes to the participants.
The programme was funded by Jammu & Kashmir Bank under its CSR initiative and organized by the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Ramban.
On the concluding day, certificates were distributed among 35 participants, comprising unemployed rural youth, farmers and farm women, who successfully completed the training. In addition, bee boxes were also distributed to the participants to encourage them to adopt beekeeping as a sustainable income-generating activity.
Addressing the participants, the Chief Agriculture Officer, Ramban, highlighted the initiatives taken by the District Administration Ramban and Agriculture Department for promotion of apiculture in the district and assured continued technical support and convergence with government schemes.
District Agriculture Officer, Ramban, Kuldeep Bassan emphasized the importance of scientific management of bee colonies and proper utilization of the inputs provided. Nodal Officer, Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), M. S. Khan, appreciated the active participation of the trainees and reiterated CARD’s commitment towards capacity building and rural entrepreneurship.
The training programme included classroom sessions as well as hands-on practical training and field demonstrations on modern beekeeping practices, honey extraction, value addition and marketing. The programme is expected to contribute significantly towards self-employment, income enhancement and promotion of GI-tagged Sulai Honey in Ramban district.
The training farmers expressed their gratitude to Jammu & Kashmir Bank and CARD for organizing the programme and stated that the training has enhanced their technical knowledge and confidence to take up beekeeping as a viable livelihood option.
The session was attended by SMS (DL), Jyoti Parkash, SDAO Ramban, Ayaz Ahmed Reshi, SMS-SDL Rakesh Padha, SMS (SDL) Kulbushan Singh and exports Agriculture Department.
