Jammu: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Monday reviewed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat RozgarYojana (PM-VBRY) in Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized the need for employers across the Union Territory to fully leverage the scheme to address unemployment and promote inclusive economic growth.
Those who attended this meeting besides the ACS, APD; Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD and Secretary, L&E includes Labour Commissioner; Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Jammu; Director, Employment and other concerned officers.
Chairing a meeting in this regard, the Chief Secretary described the initiative as a significant opportunity for both employers and employees, urging stakeholders to maximize its benefits in line with the scheme’s objectives. He noted that effective utilization of the scheme would not only incentivize job creation but also help youth secure sustainable employment across various sectors.
He maintained that the scheme offers tangible financial benefits to employers while ensuring meaningful employment opportunities for the youth. Employers in J&K must come forward to make optimal use of this initiative for mutual benefit and broader socio-economic development here, he remarked.
Providing an overview of the scheme, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Jammu, Sumeet Singh informed the meeting that PM-VBRY is a flagship Central Government initiative aimed at generating over 3.5 crore jobs nationwide during the period 2025–2027. He stated that the scheme provides financial incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month to employers for hiring additional employees registered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
In addition, the scheme includes a one-time cash incentive of ₹15,000 for first-time job seekers, thereby encouraging formal employment and enhancing social security coverage. The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment through the EPFO.
The meeting underscored the importance of awareness generation among employers and eligible beneficiaries to ensure widespread adoption of the scheme and effective realization of its employment-generation goals across Jammu and Kashmir.
