Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has seized ten vehicles for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian, Awantipora and Pulwama.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that In Shopian, a police patrol from Police Station Imamsahib seized five vehicles, including one JCB and four tractors, involved in illegal mineral extraction without valid royalty documents. A case under FIR No. 42/2025 and FIR No. 43/2025 has been registered with further investigations initiated. In Awantipora, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Khrew seized two tippers, registered as JK04B-0511 and JK09B-3344, which were used for illegal excavation and transportation of minerals. A case under FIR No. 98/2025 has been registered and investigations are underway. Additionally, in Pulwama, police have intensified night patrols in vulnerable areas. During a targeted check on the night of December 18-19, a team from Police Station Litter intercepted and seized two dumpers and one tractor linked to unlawful mining activities. A case under FIR No. 111/2025 has been registered, and further investigations are underway. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect the natural resources and ensure strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities.
