Srinagar : The Pran Krishan Koul Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Kashmir (KU), concluded its maiden ‘Art Fiesta’ Annual Art Camp 2025, organised from December 12 to 18 at the Main Campus under the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047: Bold Vision, Brighter Future.”
The camp served as a collaborative platform for young artists to engage with contemporary themes through visual and performing arts, fostering dialogue between traditional and modern expressions. The valedictory function showcased an exhibition of artworks created during the week-long camp, complemented by cultural and musical performances from IMFA students. Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice-Chancellor of KU, emphasized the importance of art in cultivating reflective and socially conscious individuals, highlighting that initiatives like this camp nurture creativity and encourage students to connect with national visions through artistic expression. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal noted that such academic-cultural initiatives enhance the university’s creative ecosystem, offering students valuable opportunities to develop discipline, confidence, and artistic skills beyond traditional classroom settings. Prof. Aejaz Mohammed Sheikh, Dean of the School of Arts, Languages and Literature, pointed out the significance of interdisciplinary artistic practice highlighted by the Art Camp. Meanwhile, Prof. Pervez Ahmed, Dean of Students Welfare, remarked that these initiatives promote students’ creative expression and holistic development. Dr. Habibullah Shah, Principal of IMFA KU, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic participation and the quality of work produced, stating that the Art Fiesta was designed as a space for students to experiment, learn collaboratively, and respond creatively to ideas shaping the nation’s future.
