Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has seized huge quantity of contraband substances from residential houses in Thiaran Kandi Keller area of Shopian.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific information, Police Station Keller registered a case under FIR No. 52/2025 under NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the competent authority. A team from Police Station Keller accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, raided the residential premises of Mohd Shafi Khanday R/o Thraina Kandi Keller and during the search, 10.283Kgs of Cannabis-like substance was recovered from house yard and accordingly seized. Similarly, 1.582Kgs of Crushed Cannabis-like substance was recovered from the residential premises of Irshad Ahmad KhandayR/o Thraina Kandi Keller and same was seized, accused arrested. Further investigation is underway.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police reiterates its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the public to extend cooperation. Information regarding drug abuse/peddling can be shared to the nearest police station.
