DC inaugurates pioneering venture at Village Udhyanpur
Doda : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Harvinder Singh Wednesday inaugurated a Milk Value Addition Unit established by Chenab Desi Dairy Self-Help Group (SHG) under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) 2024–25 at Udhyanpur, Tehsil Bagla Bharath, District Doda.
The unit, branded as “Osheen Milk,” has been set up with a financial incentive of Rs. 25 lakh and is sponsored by the Animal Husbandry Department.
Rooted into flagship Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), the scheme aims to promote dairy value addition, enhance farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of value addition in the dairy sector for creating sustainable livelihoods and strengthening the rural economy. He appreciated the efforts of the SHG and the Animal Husbandry Department in implementing the project.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the departmental officers, senior citizens, representatives of Self-Help Group and local residents, who welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism about its positive impact on dairy farmers and employment generation in the area.
The Milk Value Addition Unit is expected to improve milk processing, ensure better market access and contribute to the overall agricultural and dairy growth in District Doda.
