Jammu : Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on the directions of Commissioner JMC and under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (R&E) and Deputy Commissioner (North/South), carried out a major enforcement drive, successfully demolishing multiple illegal structures and sealing several commercial units operating in violation of municipal norms across different parts of the city.
The drive was conducted by the Enforcement Wing of the JMC, reaffirming the Corporation’s commitment to ensuring a planned urban landscape and preventing unauthorized construction and encroachment on public land.
Key actions taken included demolition of illegal encroachments at warehouse.
The JMC team demolished a cluster of illegal jhuggis in the Ware House area, near the Fourth Bridge.
Removal of Unauthorized Construction Material and Shuttering-Enforcement officials also took action against an unauthorized construction site at Malik Market, near Wave Mall.
Illegal shuttering being used for construction without the requisite building permission from the competent authority was immediately demolished and removed from the site.
Sealing of Commercial Units: In a separate action, JMC sealed multiple commercial establishments that were found to be operating in violation of municipal regulations, likely for unauthorized construction or change of land use. Two (02) shops were sealed in the Roop Nagar area, while four (04) shops were sealed in the Patta Bohri area.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has resolved to strictly enforce building bylaws and crackdown on illegal activities and ensuring that all construction activities adhere to the approved master plan and building permissions.
The JMC urged all citizens and developers to strictly comply with municipal laws to avoid stringent action, which includes demolition, sealing and prosecution.
JMC stated that such drives will continue in the future to curb the menace of illegal construction and encroachment throughout the municipal limits of Jammu.
