DDC Shopian conducts comprehensive review of PM Surya Ghar, RDSS

Shopian : District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review to evaluate the progress of key power sector initiatives including PM Surya Ghar (Rooftop Solar Scheme) and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) here at Mini-Secretariat.
The DDC took a scheme-wise review of the ongoing works and sought detailed inputs from KPDCL, executing agencies, Project Management Agencies (PMAs) and vendors involved in the implementation process. He reviewed the progress achieved since the last meeting, targets fixed and gaps requiring immediate attention.
Emphasising the importance of renewable energy adoption, the DDC directed concerned officers to accelerate rooftop solar installations under PM Surya Ghar and ensure maximum household enrolment, particularly in eligible residential categories. He stressed the need for effective public awareness, transparent beneficiary selection and timely completion of installations.
While reviewing RDSS components, the DDC underscored the necessity of strengthening distribution infrastructure and improvement in overall power reliability. He called for close coordination between KPDCL, PGCIL and civil works executing divisions to meet project timelines with respect to smart metering,installation of DTs, cabling etc.
Regarding Smart Metering, the DDC instructed executing agencies to speed up meter installations, ensure proper testing and commissioning and address consumer grievances promptly. He also directed field officers to closely monitor installations and ensure seamless integration with existing power infrastructure.
The DDC further instructed all agencies to submit daily progress reports and emphasised upon adhering to the fixed timelines for completion of all works under different components of RDSS.
The meeting was attended by SDM, Zainapora, Bilal Ahmed; Executive Engineers of KPDCL, R&B, STD, Projects Division, LDM Shopian, DIO Shopian, Senior Manager PGCIL, representatives of PMA agencies, Smart Metering firms, cable contractors and vendors executing PM Surya Ghar and RDSS.
