Awantipora : Dr. Irfan Maqbool Bhat, Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, has been awarded the prestigious “K. R. Gupta Gold Medal” for the year 2025 by the Council of the Geological Society of India (GSI), in recognition of his contributions to the field of Earth Sciences.
Dr. Irfan Maqbool Bhat was honored with the K. R. Gupta Gold Medal during the Annual Convention of the Geological Society of India, which took place at the Department of Geology (Centre of Advanced Study) at Kumaun University, Uttarakhand. This prestigious award is one of the highest accolades given by the Geological Society of India, established in memory of Professor K. R. Gupta, a distinguished geoscientist known for his significant contributions to the field in India. The medal is awarded annually to a scientist who has exhibited exceptional academic performance, impactful research, and notable advancements in geosciences.
