Ramban: In line with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Monday organized one-day awareness programmes at Government Degree College (GDC) Gool and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Gool.
The programmes aimed at creating awareness among students and participants about the job-oriented and self-employment government schemes, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP), and Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME).
During the programmes, detailed information was shared regarding the objectives, eligibility criteria, financial assistance and benefits of these schemes, with special emphasis on entrepreneurship development, value addition and employment opportunities in the horticulture and allied sectors. Participants were also sensitised about the role and functions of the Department, particularly in the marketing of fruits and vegetables. Key aspects such as market regulation, infrastructure development, post-harvest management, grading, packaging, transportation and establishment of market linkages for better price realization were highlighted.
The participants were sensitized by Dr. Imtiaz and Dr. Adress, faculty members; Farooq Dar, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO) Gool; Dr. Ilyas, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon; and Mubarak from the Sheep Husbandry Department. Progressive farmers and members of SRLM also participated, contributing valuable practical insights during the interactive sessions.
The awareness programmes witnessed active participation and meaningful interaction and were found to be highly informative and beneficial for students, farmers, and other stakeholders aspiring to avail opportunities in horticulture, agriculture, and allied sectors.
