Baramulla, Dec 16: One person was killed in a hit-and-run road accident involving a Sumo vehicle and a motorcycle in the Janbazpora area of Baramulla on Tuesday, officials said.
The accident involved a motorcycle bearing registration number JK05K-7140 and a Sumo vehicle, which fled the spot after the collision. The motorcyclist, identified as Ghulam Qadir Zarger, son of late Ghulam Rasool Zarger and a resident of Jetty Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, sustained critical injuries in the mishap.
He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched a manhunt to trace the Sumo vehicle and its driver. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
