Ramban: The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with NIFT Srinagar, on Monday organised a one-day capacity-building workshop on Packaging and Branding here at the Conference Hall DC Office Complex. The workshop was organized with the objective of strengthening the market readiness of local artisans and craft-based entrepreneurs.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the crucial role of effective packaging and branding in transforming traditional crafts into sustainable livelihood opportunities. He highlighted the government’s continued efforts under the RAMP Scheme aimed to provide institutional support, skill up-gradation and enhanced market linkages to artisans and weavers.
The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of modern packaging techniques, branding strategies, product presentation, and market positioning to add value to the products and improve competitiveness in national and international markets.
Experts from NIFT Srinagar delivered technical sessions and shared practical insights aligned with contemporary design practices and evolving market trends.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from artisans, weavers, and departmental officers, followed by an interactive session during which participants’ queries were addressed by the experts. The initiative was widely appreciated as a significant step towards empowering artisans and promoting the rich handicraft and handloom heritage of Jammu & Kashmir through innovation, professionalism, and market-oriented approaches.
