Bandipora : A Mega Camp under Phase-8 of the DEAF (Depositor Education and Awareness Fund) initiative of the DFS was conducted Friday in the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The programme witnessed a significant public turnout along with the presence of bank officials, including the LDO RBI, Cluster Head J&K Bank, Regional Head Grameen Bank, and officers from the district Administration.
During the event, the LDO RBI briefed the gathering about the DEAF scheme and the procedure for claiming unclaimed deposits.
The Cluster Head J&K Bank, in a technical session, highlighted the bank’s role and the strategies adopted to trace and support eligible clients.
The LDO RBI also briefed the gathering about the UDGAM Portal of the Reserve Bank of India, a unified platform designed to help citizens easily search and identify their unclaimed deposits across multiple banks. He urged all participants and the general public to check their status on the portal and promptly claim any unclaimed amounts. He further appealed to people to approach their nearest bank branch for assistance in case of difficulties, ensuring that no legitimate depositor or legal heir is deprived of their rightful dues.
The LDM Bandipora also apprised participants about the objectives of the programme and encouraged the public to raise queries and seek clarifications.
The camp witnessed substantial progress with ₹17.48 lakh settled on the spot with ₹16.72 lakh through J&K Bank and ₹0.76 lakh through Grameen Bank.
A total of nine claims were processed, and the beneficiaries were handed cheques by Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, Mohammad Maqbool Lone during the camp.
Beneficiaries also shared their experiences, expressing gratitude to the banks particularly J&K Bank for their proactive outreach and assistance in facilitating the claim process.
On the occasion, all participating banks were urged to intensify efforts and ensure maximum settlements under the ongoing DEAF initiative.
