Anwantipora : The Department of English Language and Literature, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) conducted a two-day workshop titled “Bridging Barriers: Connecting Communities through Language and Literature” under its Community Outreach Program.
The workshop at Darul Uloom Jamiat-ur-Rashad, Awantipora, aimed to enhance communication skills and strengthen community ties, aligning with the University’s Community Connect initiative. Dr. Munejah Khan, Head of the Department, welcomed the students and highlighted the Department’s academic offerings and the advanced Language Lab facilities. She emphasized the significance of effective communication and the importance of fostering connections among diverse communities. The first day of the workshop concentrated on foundational language skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Participants engaged in practical activities, a hands-on session on application writing, and a guided campus tour. The second day shifted focus to storytelling and poetry, where participants engaged in literary exercises that deepened their understanding of narrative techniques and poetic structures. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Muddasir Ramzan, the Community Connect Coordinator, and included contributions from various faculty members. Participants expressed gratitude for the practical exposure and engaging activities, noting the enriching academic experience provided by the Department.
