GDC Shopian Hosts Session on “Transforming Higher Education into a Knowledge Society”

Shopian : Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian Tuesday conducted a special academic session on the theme “Transforming Higher Education into a Knowledge Society”, echoing the reformative spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event aimed to foster dialogue on strengthening India’s higher education system for a rapidly evolving global knowledge ecosystem.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Prof. Mohammad Shafiq, who highlighted the urgent need to reimagine and redesign higher education to meet contemporary challenges and prepare students for emerging opportunities.
Coordinator IQAC, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, delivered the Keynote Address, presenting an in-depth and insightful presentation on the central theme. He underscored the significance of educational transformation in leveraging India’s demographic potential and building a creative, competitive, and knowledge-centric society.
During the session, the key features of NEP-2020, particularly those focused on higher education reforms, innovation, and experiential learning, were deliberated upon.
