DC B’pora launches Training Prog under Phase-II of IEC campaign against Drug Abuse

Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Tuesday launched a training programme for resource persons nominated for phase-II of IEC Campaign against Drugs at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
Resource persons from Police, Education, Municipal Committees, Youth Services & Sports, Social Welfare, NRLM, ATF and other departments participated in the inaugural session. The DC interacted with all participants and encouraged them to actively contribute to the district’s anti-drug awareness efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to learn from past mistakes, understand the purpose of the campaign, and work with a clear strategy. She explained the concept and importance of IEC, emphasising that participants from diverse departments were chosen because each is closely linked with society and can play a vital role in tackling the drug menace.
“You are blessed with the opportunity to serve society. Your participation reflects your potential to guide communities away from this growing social evil,” she said, expressing concern over the rising trend of substance abuse.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged resource persons to first gain complete knowledge and then educate people effectively. She emphasised constant communication with children and advised conducting IEC activities in religious congregations and community gatherings to widen outreach.
Among others, the event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development (Nodal Officer for IEC Campaign) Bandipora; Dy District Election Officer; Dy Chief Education Officer; District Information Officer; BDOs and other concerned officers and officials.
