Srinagar : Renowned Kashmiri poet, storyteller, and critic Yousuf Jahangeer has been selected to represent the Kashmiri language at the National Symposium of Poets 2026, organized by Prasar Bharati on the eve of Republic Day.
The event, recognized as the world’s largest poetic symposium, features one poet from each of the 22 scheduled Indian languages, with the complete list of participants released by Prasar Bharati. Jahangeer’s acclaimed poem “Rooh Te Raaz” (The Soul and the Secret) will be showcased in the national broadcast. A prominent literary figure, he has published seventeen books and is proficient in Kashmiri, Urdu, and English. He will be accompanied by noted translator Dr. Upendra Raina during the symposium. The event is set to be recorded in New Delhi this month and will be aired at 10 pm on January 25, 2026, through the National Hook-Up of All India Radio, ensuring nationwide reach. Akashvani Srinagar will also broadcast the complete program in Kashmiri, promoting the poetic heritage of the valley to households in Jammu & Kashmir. The National Symposium of Poets 2026 aims to celebrate India’s linguistic diversity and literary heritage in honor of the 77th Republic Day.
