Says “Claims on social media are baseless”
Rajouri : Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department (JSD) Saturday said that a misleading and unnecessary narrative is being circulated among the citizens of Rajouri by selectively sharing photos and videos of the pre-filtration zone of the Filtration Plant at Dhanidar. The claim made in the video implying that contaminated water is being supplied to the public and that children are falling ill due to the supplied water is factually incorrect and baseless.
It is clarified that only properly filtered, treated and chlorinated potable water is supplied to the public after following due procedure and testing protocols. Saturday, water samples were also collected from the post-filtration zone, as part of routine monitoring to ensure quality and safety.
Furthermore, no case of water-borne illness among children has been reported by any medical facility, hospital or healthcare professional in the district, contradicting the claims made in the viral video.
The Executive Engineer has urged all social media content creators, reporters and page administrators to verify facts with the concerned department before publishing any such information. Spreading unverified or false narratives may lead to unnecessary panic among the public and is strictly discouraged.
