NC leaders, workers assemble at Naseem Bagh to commemorate late Abdullah’s 120th birth anniversary

Srinagar, Dec 05 : National Conference on Friday paid rich tributes to its party founder late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 120th birth anniversary.

Leaders and party workers, according to media recalled the contribution of late Sher-e-Kashmir towards building Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a gathering at Naseem Bagh, National Conference President Dr.Farooq Abdullah, as per KNO said the this day is not only a remembrance of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s birth but also a reflection on his mission to give voice to the voiceless.

“The progress we see today is the result of Sheikh Sahib’s vision and courage. He dedicated his life to ensuring that every Kashmiri could live with self-respect and hope. His politics was rooted in service, compassion and justice,” Dr. Farooq said.

He urged people to uphold Sheikh Abdullah’s ideals of unity, secularism and equality. “Leadership means standing by those who suffer and those who have lost loved ones or live in despair. Our duty is to give them hope and ensure no child is left behind. Governments may change, but the principles of humanity and truth must remain our foundation,” he added.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wanii, while paying homage, said people remember Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in every situation.

“A public holiday or not, this day holds immense respect and emotional value. It honors the leader who gave the people their voice and the right to speak,” Sogami said.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Shammi Oberoi also paid tribute, describing Sheikh Abdullah as “a leader loved by all.” “He took people out of misery and darkness. We pray that God grants him eternal peace,” she said.

Adding to the tributes, Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah in a post on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “120th Birth Anniversary of Baba-e-Qoum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Today, as we commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah sb, we are reminded not only of his towering political stature but also of his unwavering commitment to justice, dignity, and the rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

He further said, “Sheikh Sahib and his colleagues symbolised political courage, resilience, and the collective aspirations of our people. Sheikh Abdullah sahab and devoted his life to challenging oppression and dismantling structures of exploitation.”

“It is our responsibility to uphold these values and carry forward the mission he and his colleagues dedicated their lives to. Let this day renew our commitment to unity, justice, and democratic rights,” the tweet reads.

Meanwhile, the event witnessed floral tributes, emotional recollections and renewed pledges to carry forward Sheikh Abdullah’s mission of peace, dignity and people’s welfare.

The commemoration saw participation from CM Omar Abdullah, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, both CM’s sons Zahir and Zamir Abdullah, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and several senior leaders and MLAs.—
