Doda: The District Administration Doda is all set to host Alpha Cup 2025 – 1st Edition of the T-20 Leather Ball Cricket Tournament. The Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh on Wednesday chaired a   preparatory meeting here at the Sports Stadium. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, Anil Kumar Thakur, Chief Planning Officer, Manesh Kumar Manhas and other members of the organising committee.

The meeting focused on reviewing arrangements, strengthening coordination and finalizing a comprehensive strategy for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.

The Deputy Commissioner inspected the newly developed cricket pitch at the venue and appreciated the field workers for preparing a high-standard playing surface. He stated that such improvements reflect the district administration’s commitment to promote sports and provide enhanced opportunities to local youth.

The organising Committee also projected certain demands before the District Administration, seeking installation of floodlights, additional fencing around seating areas and upgraded facilities for the players and spectators. The Deputy Commissioner assured that these demands would be taken up on priority to create an encouraging sports environment in the stadium.

The Deputy Commissioner commended the organising Committee for taking the initiative to host a major cricket event in the district. He emphasised that tournaments like this play a significant role in encouraging youth participation in sports, fostering community engagement, and contributing to a healthier and drug-free society. He urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to ensure the successful conduct of the event and to build it into a regular sports tradition for Doda.
