Awantipora: The School of Sciences, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), held its 5th meeting of the Board of Research Studies (BoRS) to discuss key academic and research matters and to deliberate on strategies aimed at strengthening the research environment of the University.
The meeting, presided over by Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, brought together senior faculty members and academic experts from various esteemed institutions. Dr. Aabid Hussain Shalla, Dean of Research, coordinated the program and highlighted the University’s significant research initiatives and achievements, particularly within the School of Sciences. Notable attendees included prominent figures such as Prof. A. H. Moon, Prof. Kowsar Majid, Prof. Neyaz Ahmad, Prof. Anwar Hassan, Prof. Shazia Manzoor, and Prof. Seemin Rubab, alongside senior administrators from IUST. Prof. Romshoo emphasized the University’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and globally competitive research culture, underscoring the vital role of research in institutional growth and community development. The Board conducted a comprehensive review of research programs across various disciplines, evaluated research proposals, and assessed the progress of ongoing research scholars. Key decisions were made to enhance the research ecosystem at the University, including improving support structures and laboratory facilities, encouraging interdepartmental collaboration, and reinforcing adherence to national research and ethical standards. The meeting also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary research and the need to focus on research that addresses critical regional and national challenges through scientific inquiry and innovation.
