Access Granted to Former PM as PTI Demonstrates Outside Islamabad High Court
Islamabad/Rawalpindi (ATP): Amid mounting public pressure and widespread rumours concerning the health and well-being of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his sister, Uzma Khanum, was today permitted to meet him at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
According to reports, The visit comes after weeks of restricted access for family members, lawyers, and political supporters, which had fueled social media speculation about the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) founder’s alleged death or torture in custody.
The development was reported as PTI supporters staged protests outside the Islamabad High Court and had planned mass demonstrations in Rawalpindi against the authorities’ repeated denial of visitation rights, which the party claims are in violation of court orders. In response, authorities have imposed Section 144, banning large gatherings in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
After the meeting, Uzma Khanum confirmed that Imran Khan was alive and in good physical health, but alleged that he was being kept in solitary confinement and subjected to “mental torture.” The PTI continues to demand regular, unhindered access to their incarcerated leader.
