The inaugural event was attended by Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jasmeet Singh, besides Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) and Motor Vehicle Inspectors.
This Volvo Multi-Axle Sleeper Coach, which is the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir, has been introduced to cater to the growing need for safer and more comfortable travel between Srinagar and Delhi. The innovative coach comes equipped with an array of world-class features aimed at enhancing passenger safety and comfort. The key features of the Volvo Sleeper Coach includes 40-Seater Capacity offering a comfortable travel experience with its spacious and luxurious sleeper seats.
For enhanced passenger safety, the coach is equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure a secure journey. The coach also includes a washroom facility, an essential feature for long-distance travel. The Volvo coach is fitted with air-free suspension, providing a smooth and jerk-free ride, particularly for long journeys.
The coach is fully equipped with state-of-the-art safety mechanisms, ensuring a safe travel experience for passengers.
The Transport Commissioner, while inaugurating the coach, lauded the initiative as a significant step forward for public transport in Jammu and Kashmir. “The introduction of this Volvo sleeper coach marks a milestone in the UTI’s transport sector. The combination of luxury, safety and convenience will provide an enhanced travel experience for commuters. Our goal is to ensure that people not only travel comfortably but also securely, with advanced features like CCTV surveillance and an air-free suspension system,” said Sh Mahajan during his address.
The Volvo coach will primarily ply on the Srinagar-Delhi route, offering passengers a modern and comfortable mode of transportation, especially for those undertaking long-distance journeys. This service will provide an unparalleled travel experience with its luxurious amenities, ensuring passengers reach their destinations with ease and comfort.
The RTO Jammu expressed his optimism about the positive impact this new initiative would have on the region’s transport infrastructure. “The introduction of such a premium coach is not only a milestone in terms of travel comfort but also enhances the overall appeal of Jammu and Kashmir’s transport system. We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality for our passengers.”
This inauguration reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and transport facilities in the state, particularly for long-distance travel. It is expected that more such innovations will be rolled out across Jammu and Kashmir in the coming years, providing better connectivity, safety and comfort to passengers.
