Srinagar : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar commemorated the 76th Constitution Day with a ceremony that emphasized the importance of constitutional values and awareness among its community.
The event, held under the leadership of In-charge Director Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, aimed to reinforce the commitment to the Constitution and its principles among students, faculty, and staff, in line with directives from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Key dignitaries, including the Institute Registrar and various department heads, attended the ceremony, which featured an oath-taking and Preamble-reading session. The Preamble was read in both Hindi and English, allowing participants to reflect on the core ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir highlighted the Constitution’s role as a living document that shapes India’s democratic ethos and stressed the necessity of constitutional literacy for students, particularly in the context of rapid socio-economic changes. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman underscored the responsibility of educational institutions to uphold constitutional values, emphasizing that the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and justice should permeate the campus culture. He noted the importance of understanding the balance between rights and duties as essential for contributing to national development. The event concluded with a collective pledge to promote constitutional awareness and uphold the democratic values foundational to the Republic of India.
