DC directs sustainable, citizen-centric Master Plan
Shopain: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting regarding the formulation and finalization of the Master Plan for Shopian town.
The meeting was held at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian and was attended by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tehsildar Shopian, Tehsildar Keegam, CEO MC, officers from line departments and officials associated with the planning process.
During the meeting, the DDC took a detailed assessment of the ongoing work related to revenue aspects, delineation of planning boundaries, land-use proposals and incorporation of critical developmental requirements for the town. He emphasized the importance of accuracy and inter-departmental coordination for ensuring a realistic, futuristic and sustainable Master Plan that aligns with the aspirations of the citizens of Shopian.
He directed the concerned revenue authorities to expedite the process of boundary finalization and ensure that all relevant records are updated and authenticated in a time-bound manner. He stressed that the Master Plan must cater to emerging needs in housing, mobility, public infrastructure, utilities, environmental protection, disaster preparedness and regulated urban growth.
The officers present were instructed to maintain close coordination with the Housing & Urban Development Department and provide all necessary support to the consulting agencies involved in drafting the Master Plan.
The DDC further highlighted the significance of adopting a participatory approach by incorporating feedback from stakeholders and the general public.
