Cong Defeated Ambedkar in Elections, Weakened His Mission for the Marginalised : MP Khatana

Jammu : Rajya Sabha MP and BJP Senior Leader Gulam Ali Khatana paid tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on Samvidhan Divas, emphasizing his commitment to uphold constitutional values. He criticized the Congress party for historically undermining Ambedkar’s efforts for Scheduled Castes and marginalized communities, highlighting their electoral defeat of Ambedkar and their role in diluting the Constitution’s spirit through over 70 amendments during their 60 years in power.
Khatana praised Dr. Ambedkar as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, which he described as a visionary document ensuring justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity for all citizens. He asserted that the Constitution maintains a balance of rights and duties, contributing to the strengthening of Indian democracy. In his remarks, Khatana accused the opposition of attempting to divide society along caste lines for political gain. He pointed out the Congress party’s historical actions, including the imposition of the Emergency and censorship, which he claimed contradict their current claims of being constitutional guardians. He also highlighted recent constitutional corrections, particularly the abrogation of Article 370, which he described as a significant step towards integrating Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of India. Khatana argued that this move restored equal rights and protections to various marginalized groups, framing it as a necessary correction to ensure dignity and democratic rights. Reaffirming his dedication to public welfare, Khatana said that inspired by Ambedkar’s ideals, the BJP will continue to promote democracy and constitutional values, aiming to build a more inclusive and empowered India. He emphasizedg the importance of protecting the Constitution and serving the people as a true tribute to Dr. Ambedkar.
