Baramulla, Nov 25: Sopore Police achieved a major breakthrough by solving a theft case within 24 hours, recovering stolen utensils and arresting two accused individuals involved in the crime.

The action followed a written complaint filed by Maqbool Rahman Beigh of Model Town at Police Post Bus Stand Sopore, reporting the theft of utensils from his residence. Acting swiftly, Police Station Sopore registered FIR No. 260/2025 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched a prompt investigation.

During the inquiry, multiple suspects were taken into custody for questioning. One of them, identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Hamid Sheikh, resident of Model Town D, confessed to his involvement and led investigators to Cooperative Baagh Sopore, where a portion of the stolen property was found concealed. He also admitted that some items had been sold.

Following sustained interrogation and investigation, police arrested another accused, Waseem Nabi Wani of Model Town D, who confessed to having received and kept the stolen items. Additional stolen utensils were subsequently recovered from his residence.

Sopore Police stated that further investigation in the case is in progress and more recoveries or arrests are not ruled out. The prompt action reflects the police’s commitment to ensuring public safety and bringing offenders to justice.
