Shopian, Nov 23 : In its continued efforts to safeguard public lives and promote a culture of responsible driving, Shopian Police has intensified its district-wide drive against traffic rule violations. The comprehensive enforcement campaign has resulted in the seizure and challaning of hundreds of two-wheelers and four-wheelers found violating traffic norms.
The special drive has been focused on major traffic offences including driving without valid documents, rash and negligent driving, triple riding, non-helmet use, overloading, and other violations that pose threats to commuters and pedestrians. Officers have been deployed across key locations, market areas, and highways to ensure strict monitoring and immediate action against offenders.
A police spokesperson emphasized that the campaign is aimed not only at enforcement but also at improving road safety awareness. “Our priority is to save precious lives. Every violation of traffic rules directly affects public safety, and therefore, strict action will continue without any leniency,” the spokesperson said.
Shopian Police has urged citizens—especially youth and daily commuters—to follow traffic norms, carry necessary documents, wear helmets and seatbelts, and avoid dangerous driving practices. Parents have also been advised to discourage underage driving and ensure adherence to safety rules.
The department further stated that such intensified drives will remain ongoing across the district in the coming days, with zero tolerance toward repeat offenders. Shopian Police has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safer roads and fostering responsible driving behaviour among the public.
For any traffic-related assistance or information, citizens can contact the Traffic Control Unit Shopian. Public cooperation is highly appreciated in this collective effort to ensure a safe and disciplined traffic environment across the district.
