Dulloo slso inaugurates advanced GIS portal for urban planning
Jammu : Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo Saturday chaired a high-level meeting of all concerned Administrative Heads to review the status of data layers uploaded on the PM Gati Shakti (PMGS) Portal across Jammu & Kashmir and to assess progress in leveraging the platform as a comprehensive decision-support system for holistic and evidence-based governance.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized the necessity of developing innovative, user-oriented analytical tools on the PMGS portal to extract clear insights from existing datasets. He highlighted that accurate, granular, and dynamic data is essential for informed policy-making and effective service delivery aimed at enhancing public welfare. The Chief Secretary urged all departments to transition from traditional data uploading to meaningful analytical integration, which would strengthen planning and monitoring mechanisms. He specifically called for the creation of polygonal data rather than just point data. The Chief Secretary directed the Planning, Development & Monitoring Department to lead the effort in uploading detailed data layers related to youth engagement across all districts. This includes comprehensive datasets on skilling initiatives, employment trends, entrepreneurial activities, sports participation, and educational indicators, which are crucial for formulating targeted youth-centric policies. He also stressed the importance of inter-departmental collaboration, urging the Home Department to provide granular data on drug hotspots and substance abuse patterns, and the Agriculture Production Department to integrate data on crop production and animal husbandry for better agricultural planning.
