Baramulla: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Division Baramulla today conducted a comprehensive awareness programme on the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana at Dakbanglow Baramulla, drawing active participation from local residents.
The programme aimed to educate the public about the benefits of adopting rooftop solar power under the scheme. Technical experts briefed attendees on the complete process—ranging from online application and installation guidelines to subsidy provisions and long-term savings for domestic consumers. Several existing beneficiaries shared their experiences, showcasing how the initiative has helped them significantly reduce their electricity expenses.
Executive Engineer Mohammad Amin Shah delivered an in-depth presentation on consumer eligibility, the step-by-step application procedure, and financial incentives available under the scheme. He encouraged households to take maximum advantage of the government initiative to achieve energy independence and reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
In addition, KPDCL facilitated stalls set up by empanelled vendors to offer on-spot assistance and clarify consumer queries. Assistant Executive Engineer Mohammad Shafi Khan also addressed the gathering, outlining the major features and sustainable benefits of transitioning to solar energy. The event concluded with a call for wider community participation to help accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across Baramulla district.
