Srinagar : President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah has urged the Prime Minister , Union Home Minister, and respective Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories to ensure that Kashmiris living, studying, or earning their livelihood across the country are not viewed with suspicion or subjected to any form of harassment in the wake of the recent unfortunate incidents in Delhi.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Dr. Farooq expressed significant concern regarding the narratives that arise following unfortunate events, highlighting that those who commit criminal acts represent only a tiny fraction of the population and do not reflect the broader community of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the pain caused when the actions of a few misguided individuals foster doubt and hostility towards the entire Kashmiri community. It is crucial for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth studying and working across the country, to feel safe, supported, and protected. Dr. Abdullah reiterated the positive contributions of Kashmiris to India’s social, economic, and cultural landscape. He called on all levels of government to take proactive steps to ensure the dignity, safety, and security of Kashmiris in every state and union territory. He urged central and state leadership to provide clear directives to law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant against discrimination or targeted harassment, ensuring that innocent citizens are not victimized during times of heightened tension. Dr. Abdullah concluded by advocating for unity as a nation, with justice and fairness as fundamental principles guiding actions.
