Budgam : The District Administration Budgam, in partnership with the District Social Welfare Office, organized an awareness programme at the DC Office Budgam to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), a nationwide initiative to combat substance abuse.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, inaugurated the event, administered an anti-drug pledge and led a public signature campaign symbolizing commitment toward a drug-free society.
While addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the growing menace of substance abuse among youth and stressed collaborative interventions, preventive awareness, and counselling outreach. He emphasized that sustained awareness in schools, colleges, Panchayat bodies, and community areas is critical for long-term success.
The event concluded with a detailed awareness session wherein participants were educated about the social, mental, economic, and health-related impacts of drug addiction.
The DC also directed officials and institutions to conduct regular awareness activities across Budgam under the framework of NMBA.
All educational institutions across the district also enthusiastically participated in the pledge ceremony, reaffirming collective responsibility and solidarity toward eradicating substance abuse.
The programme witnessed active participation from government officials, staff members, and volunteers, reflecting strong community-level support for the anti-drug mission.
