Jammu: Secretary, Information Technology Department (ITD), Dr. Piyush Singla on Thursday chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to assess the functioning, performance and effectiveness of various Technical Appraisal Committees (TACs) constituted for the appraisal of IT and e-Governance projects across departments.

Special Secretary, IT Department; State Informatics Officer, NIC J&K; In-charge Director, NIELIT J&K; and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.

During the deliberations, the Secretary emphasized on the need for standardized appraisal procedures, capacity enhancement of committee members, and timely submission of project assessments to ensure greater efficiency and accountability.

He also directed the officers to reinforce inter-departmental coordination and ensure that all project proposals are appraised in accordance with prescribed guidelines, thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and quality assurance in e-Governance initiatives across the Union Territory.

It was decided in the meeting that a comprehensive assessment report on the functioning of TACs will be prepared, highlighting key observations, challenges, and recommendations to strengthen their overall performance.
