G’bal: In a strong push to promote road safety and enforce discipline on Kashmir’s rural roads, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Paul Singh on Thursday led a major traffic checking and awareness drive across key areas of Ganderbal district.
Teams from the Traffic Department carried out detailed inspections of vehicles to check registration, insurance, pollution certificates, and compliance with helmet and seatbelt norms. Several motorists were fined on the spot for violating traffic rules. Speaking during the operation, Ravinder Paul Singh said the department was determined to ensure safe and smooth vehicular movement in rural areas. “Strict action will be taken against habitual offenders. Every commuter must follow traffic rules to prevent accidents and protect lives,” he said. The SSP also interacted with drivers and local residents, stressing the shared responsibility of maintaining order on roads. “Traffic discipline is not just a legal duty but a moral one. We must all contribute to safer roads,” he added. SHO Sadar Ganderbal Sajad Asad and other senior traffic officials accompanied Singh during the inspection.
